Biography
Dr. Borja Ibáñez holds the position of Director of Clinical Research at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research in Spain, while also actively practicing as an interventional cardiologist at Hospital Fundación Jiménez Díaz. His comprehensive training encompasses both Spain and the United States, where he refined his skills at Mount Sinai. His professional focus revolves around addressing key areas in cardiology, notably STEMI, heart failure, and cardiotoxicity related to cancer therapy. He ardently pursues these interests through both research and clinical practice. As a Principal Investigator, he leads several multicenter clinical trials aimed at enrolling patients with myocardial infarction and heart failure. His expertise is further highlighted by his appointment as the Chairman of the 2017 ESC STEMI Clinical Practice Guidelines. He helds national and international projects, including those funded by ERC CoG, ERA CVD, and H2020 grants. His contributions are well-documented in over 200 scientific publications in high-impact journals.
