Biography
Ioanna Andreadou is a Pharmacist, Professor of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Greece. After obtaining a PhD and a post-doc (VU Amsterdam), she worked for several years in Pharmaceutical Industry and in Clinical trials and then she joined as a lecturer the School of Pharmacy in NKUA. Her current research interests focus i) on cardiovascular pharmacology with emphasis on cardioprotection after ischemia/reperfusion injury and heart failure, ii) preclinical drug and natural products screening, iii) investigation of the mechanisms for identification of novel therapeutic targets in ischemia/reperfusion injury and heart failure and iv) cardio-oncology. The last years her research has also focused on the cardioprotective effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and the investigation of their mechanism of action.
