Biography
I am a PhD student involved in a project aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying duchenne muscular dystrophy-associated cardiomyopathy with the aim of identifying a therapeutic target. I am specifically investigating the role of monoamine oxidase-generated reactive oxygen species in the pathogenesis of DMD-related cardiomyopathy. The project uses both pharmacological and genetic approaches to investigate whether inhibition of MAO activity has a cardioprotective effect in the mdx mouse, a model of DMD. My expertise therefore lies within cardiovascular biology and redox biology.
